Cost to Replace Your HVAC System
This HVAC replacement cost estimator was designed by our HVAC industry experts to help you determine the total cost of parts, equipment and installation for a central ac unit (AC condenser and evaporator coil) or heat pump system, as well as units installed with air handler, oil or gas furnace. Our calculator works specifically on split system HVAC units, but if you have a packaged HVAC system (all in one), use our packaged HVAC calculator instead.

Replacement Cost Estimate Details
When you replace your home HVAC system, it’s essential that you have a precise understanding of what is included in the estimate and what could lead to extra charges by the heating and air company. We built this HVAC replacement estimator to offer you a clear and transparent overview of the services and materials included, ensuring that you’re well-informed about every aspect of the replacement process.
Included in this HVAC System Estimate
- New HVAC system components, including delivery to your home.
- Removal and disposal of your current system equipment, and all parts and components being replaced.
- Standard installation service, including all labor cost for installing the new HVAC system, basic electrical fittings and connectors and re-plumbing the condensate drain and/or overflow system to your existing drains. As you complete the cost calculator and select the type of HVAC system you have, a parts-list is included within the calculator showing exactly what is included in this replacement cost estimate.
- Permit and inspection fees (as needed), to assure the installation meets local safety codes and standards.
Not Included in this Cost Estimate
- Major electrical or duct modifications to existing systems that are beyond the scope of a simple changeout replacement.
- Upgrades to existing mechanical systems that are now part of code enforcement and required when replacing an HVAC system, connecting to existing electric, natural gas or plumbing sources.
- Structural modifications and any construction work required to accommodate the new HVAC system, such as may be required in coastal areas where they are built onto platforms or installed on a roof.
Calculate Replacement Cost for these Types of HVAC Systems
Our replacement cost calculator is designed for split-system HVAC units, meaning you have a condensing unit outside your home that connects to an air handler or gas furnace which is installed inside your home, and the units are connected by electrical wires and a refrigerant line set. All estimates generated with this tool include a new outdoor condensing unit pad, new thermostat, minor duct modifications to connect the new HVAC to the existing duct, as well as a condensate pump as needed and all refrigerant to assure the system is fully charged.
