How to Use this Cost Estimator

Before using our cost calculator, you’ll need to measure the perimeter of the area where your new chain link fence will be installed. This will provide a rough estimate of the total number of linear feet needed. If you don’t already know how much chain link fencing you need, I suggest using Google Earth to do this. If you do already know, head back to the calculator and input those measurements.

    • Go to Google Earth.
    • Click the Search Icon in the left menu and search for your home address.
    • Click the ruler icon in the left menu, and drop anchor points for the corners of the area you wish to fence in.
    • On the right side, view the linear feet of your fence area. (Note: The tiny arrow next to the measured size drops down to change the type of measurement if not already showing feet.)
    • Round the linear feet to the nearest 10, and add 10% to the total when using the cost estimator below. This is is to account for waste. For example, in the picture it shows 338′ feet, so I will round it up as 340′ before adding 34′ (10%) to account for the waste. The correct number of linear feet needed is 374 feet.

Next – Use the following instructions to complete the chain link fence cost estimator.

  • Step 1: Input the linear feet of fence needed, as well as the height of fencing you want installed.
  • Step 2: Enter your 5-digit zip code and state.
This step allows us to factor in the general cost of living in your area.
  • Step 3: Tell us about the gates you wish to have installed. Include both walk-through gates and drive-through gates, as well as the number of each.
  • Step 4: Do you wish to include cost of installation by a local fence installation company?
  • Step 5 – If you chose the DIY method, choose any tools you may need to rent to make the job easier.
  • Step 6 – Check off all of the added costs that may apply to your project. (remove old fence, hills, trees in path, etc)
  • Final Step: Review the calculated cost estimates (Low to high cost) and choose whether or not to send this information to local, professional chain link fence installers to provide free cost quotes.
